Competition Details

The 2008 MIT Open Ballroom Dance Competition will take place on April 19 & 20, 2008. The competition venue is located on the MIT campus in Cambridge, MA.

The MIT Open attracts almost 1000 competitors and an estimated 2000 spectators from over 60 colleges from New England, New York, Maryland, DC, Michigan, and other areas. Numerous spectators watch both days of the competition and cheer on their favorite dancers.

A special attraction this year is a showcase by Riccardo Cocchi and Yulia Zagorouitchenko.

Printed Program

The printed program is a free 8.5 x 11 booklet handed out to all competitors and spectators at the event.

  • $70 — Quarter Page Advertisement
  • $130 — Half Page Advertisement
  • $250 — Full Page Advertisement

Named Events

For the following prices you can "name" an event at the MIT Open. Named events will be listed with the sponsors name in the printed program, on the long-term results pages, where possible in the photo/video library, and announced verballed at the competition. If you wish to be on-hand to award the first place award for the event, just let us know!

  • $1000 — Professional Show by Riccardo Cocchi and Yulia Zagorouitchenko
  • $500 — Any Championship Event (Standard, Latin, Smooth, Rhythm)
  • $250 — Any Pre-Championship Event (Standard, Latin)
  • $250 — Any Advanced Event (Smooth, rhythm)

Sponsorship

Sponsors are offered spaces for web banners. Banners must not spawn pop-ups, must not include any audio. Simple, non-Flash and not-flashing, animations are allowed. No adult or questionable contents. Images are limited to 20-30K. Banners will be at the bottom of all of the pages onthe competition website.

The competition home page receives in average about 100-200 visitors per day during the two months before and the month after the competition, and 10-20 visitors per day for the rest of the year.

The side bar is visible on every competition page view and so has close to 200-300 visitors per day along the same usage pattern as the home page.

The results pages peak right after the competition (April 21-28) with about 700 hits per day in that week and then tapers off to a few hundred hits per week for the rest of the year, with another surge about this time next year.

Other Advertisement

We can included your logo on the bottom of any advertisement used for the competition (posters, slides shown at campus movies, etc). Additionally we have limited space for large banners at the competition, hanging along the front of the head table. Dimensions for the banner are roughly 54" by 36".

Vendor Space

We can provide you with space in the Rockwell Cage, where the competition takes place, to set up a booth.

Advertisement Submission and Payment

Checks should be made payable to “MIT Ballroom Dance Team” and must be received no later than March 27, 2008 though earlier is better if you are selecting web/poster advertisements. Print ready JPEG's, GIF's, or PNG's may be sent as attachments to fundraising team. Checks should be mailed to:
