MIT Parking

Please note that street parking is nearly impossible between 8am-6pm weekdays. We also highly encourage the use of public transporation since parking space is limited, but needed by many students.


While we make an effort to keep this page up to date, we cannot guarantee that it accurately reflects current parking regulations
Please double check local signs - both Cambridge and MIT actively ticket, and will immediately tow cars parked in certain restricted areas.

Street Parking

Street Restrictions
Mass Ave metered parking (meters run from 8am-6pm except Sundays)
Vassar St open parking - presently limited by construction
Albany St metered parking (meters run from 8am-6pm except Sundays)
Ames St Cambridge permit parking (except Sundays)
Amherst St some Camrbidge permit parking (except Sundays), some open parking
Memorial Dr open parking

Parking Lots

The following Lots are open to MIT affiliated people with out permit on MIT Holidays, Weekdays between 5:00 PM - 7:30 AM and all day on weekends.

Lot Location
N-10 Lot Located on Albany Street
East garage Located at the Corner of Main and Vassar street
Kresge Lot Located by the Kresge auditorium CLOSED for Summer 2002
West Annex Lot Located on Vassar street (next the West Garage)
Sloan Lot & E5 Located at the Intersection of Main and Broadway street

Please note that all these Lots are un-gated which means it should be clear that no one should attempt to park in any of our gated garages or lots. All traffic rules and regulation (no Parking Zones, Handicap parking etc.) are strictly enforced.
