MIT Open Ballroom Competition

The tenth annual MIT Open Ballroom Competition will be held on Saturday and Sunday, April 22-23, 2006.

The MIT Open Ballroom Competition has become one of the largest pure amateur ballroom competitions in the country. It will be offering newcomer events and all nineteen dances in the beginner, intermediate, advanced and open levels. In addition to awards for individual events, recognition is also given to overall winners for a particular style in each level. In recent years, it has attracted nationally ranked competitors and had hosted shows by internationally top ranked couples including professional world finalists such as undefeated Latin champions Bryan Watson and Carmen Vincelij. Over the years, the MIT Competition has also featured distinguished judging panels including world class dancers such as Victor Fung, Anna Mikhed, Bryan Watson, Carmen Vincelij, Michael Wentink, Beata Onefater, and Viebeke Toft!

This year we are proud to feature a show by 2005 professional Latin world vice champions, Michael Malitowski and Joanna Leunis, !

Michael and Joanna recently placed second in the 2005 World Professional Latin and the 2006 UK Open (Blackpool), and won the 2005 International Championships. For more information on their results, check out their listing on dancesportinfo.net.
